What location? Where?

This is more of a general opinion, but I've always felt 1st date locations should be personal to the person taking the lead on the date. Take your date to dinner, duh. However, it should be noted that not only does it serve to introduce your date to a favorite place of yours, it serves as an exploration of her tastes. Depending on the situation, act accordingly. either way, taking your date home to meet the family should be an option to be considered. Some may be the rebellious type and not care what the family thinks, but it may be worth it in the long run. While at home, show her around, see how she reacts to the family's personalities, but have a good time. Take her home and either break it off or keep going and see where it leads.

AS for where to go on a first date. I think it should be decided mutually by both. Both should feel safe in any public place, and it really can be any place. A quiet sit-down restaurant is fine, or meet in a busy park and go for a walk. The more comfortable they are, the more you will be, and both will open up more. It could even be at the public library. But the number one is a good sit-down restaurant.
