It's a societal thing. Many American men grew up with the impression that supermodel thin is the only true way to be beautiful. Some overcome that "brainwashing" and go for personality over looks. Many are still stuck in the rut of seeing extra skin or cellulite and feeling disgusted or ashamed for the person who has that feature.
My brothers both have spent more dates with women equal to or significantly more than their own body-weight and love the extra "cushion" (their words, not mine).
You just need to find the kind of man who has overcome the societal prejudice we are all bleached with in the media.

You have a cute face and hair. You must remember to not go for the guys that are considered hot, the reason is a large percentage are very vain and or narcissistic. I tend to not care unless she has like moles all over her or something along them lines. That though is natural because humans look for imperfections in looks because finding the healthiest looking mate is a card coded survival instinct. I do have lower standards than many men have and most will sleep with a woman then tell the guys how nasty he thought she was but he had to because he was horny and this is more common than most women realize but many women do the same thing for a hung man or for drugs and don't like the guys at all. We live in a twisted world and we have to find novel ways to adapt so just keep looking. Maybe just slightly brushing and say excuse me and this is important, give him a look like he's hot even if he's normal,most men even me are not players hitting on anything that moves so push the envelope and give even the shorter guys a chance they might surprise you some way, check my profile images to know what I mean.
